We had wiped out an eight-point deficit to catch Manchester United at the top of the table, setting up a final day where a win against relegation-threatened Queens Park Rangers would secure our first top-flight English title since 1968.

But typical City, we decided to do it the hard way. When the clock struck ninety minutes, we were 2-1 down, and over in Sunderland, United had won their game 1-0. The title was slipping away. Grown men were weeping in the stands of the City of Manchester Stadium. It felt like the ultimate punishment for daring to dream.
